Virginia state agencies are in a heightened state of readiness with Hurricane Earl predicted to track up and near the east coast. There is constant communication and coordination between the National Weather Service, Virginia Department of Emergency Management, Virginia Department of Transportation and other agencies. County emergency officials are closely monitoring the situation as well.
Albemarle County Executive Bob Tucker today announced his retirement from the County effective December 31, 2010. Tucker makes his announcement after 41 years of public service, 37 of which have been with the County of Albemarle and 20 of those years as County Executive.
Construction is beginning this week on Main Street and alley improvements as part of the next phase of the Destination Downtown infrastructure improvements scheduled for Crozet. The project includes construction of a new road, called Main Street, as called for in the Master Plan and significant improvements to the alley leading from the new road to the Square in downtown Crozet.
Standard & Poor’s Rating Services has assigned its ‘AAA’ issuer credit rating to Albemarle County based on the County’s “favorable overall debt profile, guided by prudent affordability policies and aggressive pay-as-you-go capital spending, as well as long-term planning practices,” according to the report.
